      <title>Network member awarded MIF grant to promote knowledge management</title>
      <description>This grant program contributes to the development of strong MIF partner institutions in the region by leveraging the wealth of knowledge accumulated by executing agency partners to replicate and scale up MIF successes. Up to 20 pilots projects are financed over a four year period, supporting learning communities and clusters of MIF partner executing agencies in sharing knowledge.</description>

      <title>MIF strengthens support for SMEs in LAC</title>
      <description>The MIF, an autonomous fund administered by the IDB,  promotes the development of microenterprises and small and medium-size businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean, providing access to various forms of financing and knowledge networks. MIF has approved more than 1000 projects, primarily grants, with over 800 civil society, private sector, and government partners, creating a community of change agents to both stimulate private sector innovation and share lessons learned.</description>

      <title>CIE-TEC Enterprise Incubation Centre San José (Costa Rica) Awards Innovative Projects</title>
      <description>On 01 December 2009, the CIE-TEC Incubation Enterprise Centre of the Costa Rica Technological Institute, proclaimed the three winning projects of the eleventh National Entrepreneurship Contest. The activity was held at the Aurola Holiday Inn and was attended by MA Eugenia Ferreto (incubator Coordinator), Velia Govaere, Vice minister of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC), and Mr. Alvaro Salazar, on behalf of the World Bank as the event’s main sponsor, professors from different schools of the Costa Rica Technological Institute, and staff from the Enterprise Incubation Centre. The call was preceded by great expectancy, since the 12 classified entrepreneurs had to wait up to two weeks for the results, until the same day the winning projects were proclaimed.

      <description>In the framework of the RedLAC internship program, Diego Sánchez of CREMAE in Medellín, Colombia, has visited the 3IE Institute of the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Valparaíso (Chile) from 12th to 16th  of October 2009. The 2009 internship program is supported by infoDev and the National Association of Technological Parks and Business Incubators of Brazil, Anprotec. The objective is to encourage the development of a collaborative network between incubators and other institutions that provide business development services in Latin America and the Caribbean. The internship program is oriented to staff members from incubators and pre-incubators.</description>
